Producer Club: Macedonia adds to list of states disrespecting free trade agreements with Kosovo

Kosovo's Manufacturers Club has reacted to the decision North Macedonia has made to ban imports of fish from Kosovo, which comes from the regulation for transitary imports, where the third-nation list is prohibited from importing live fish that is for growth or sale and is of origin [...]
The KKP has reacted by saying that no part of the regulation shows the reasons for this ban. In response, it has stressed that Macedonia now adds to the list of CEFTA members who respect free trade agreements with Kosovo, after Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania.
This decision directly harms local businesses dealing with fish cultivation, since Northern Macedonia has been one of the most important markets for selling live fish from Kosovo producers. During 2018, Kosovo has exported live fish to northern Macedonia in the amount of 26 tons and the value of 95 thousand euros. And in 2019 alone, in May was the value of export 23 thousand euros, which is several times higher than the previous 15x1>, it is said in response.
The Producers Club has asked Kosovo authorities to react and seek revision of this decision by Macedonia and to show the real reasons for the ban.
“but also require that free trade agreements be implemented and such blockades which harm Kosovo producers from being future practice”, said at the end of the response.
