This recommendation has come after the assessment of experts Anca Priscariu and Oana Sarbu, under which the university has numerous irregularities, especially in the governing and managerial system.
The report has not yet been approved and voted by the State Quality Council Board (KSHC), but in the event of approval, the University of Pec will not be able to register new students in the coming academic year 2019/2020.
Similar to the University of Mitrovica, which has also received recommendation for non-accreditation, Pec University, has been criticised for the lack of relevant English-language documents during that assessment.
The general process of accreditation has been quite challenging: despite the awareness that the process will be carried out only in English, very few documents have been made available in English so that international experts can assess institutional compliance with external standards”, the report said.
According to them, this university has gone to extremes during the self-esteem report.
The expert's <x0.>Ekip has come to the conclusion that many parts of the Self-esteem Report do not amount to reality (real integration of processes, real impressions of the academic staff community). The institution appears to have been too busy to present institutional practices in a positive way that it has failed completely in self-critical capacity, as in the submitted documents, as well as in meetings held during the visit”, is written in the report.
In addition, experts have stressed that the university should be more open and sincere, towards weaknesses, shortcomings and things that need to be improved so that experts can have a more realistic view of Pec University.
This has not only made it difficult for the team of experts to distinguish between objective information, facts that are not supported by the evidence and unstable judgments, but also, it has led these experts to doubt whether the university is aware of current and future challenges, and if they have the ability to identify risks in order to address” correctly, it is further clarified.
So as a result, the team of experts has stated that the University of Pec, in part, corresponds to the standards involved in the AkA's accreditation manual, so they have recommended that this institution not be accredited.
The expert's <x0.>Ekipi believes these can easily be overcome, if there is a comprehensive strategic plan, an informed and capable management, a well-organised leader, an administration and quality insurance, and if the academic community would gather around institutional philosophy to motivate them towards achieving the institutional mission”, it is highlighted in the summary of this report.
