O'Connell has stated that this is an important but small step forward, preceding judgment and punishment, as an important step, writes Periscope.
Mr. O'Connell has always been vocal against abuses of public officials and corruption cases, and has even called earlier that convicted officials in public office should not be appointed, and had more specifically reacted to Mr. Sylejman Selimi in the role of Prime Minister Haradinaj's political adviser.

Having ministers in Government who are accused or convicted of criminal activities is not a good situation. But it is a straight step in the Kosovo Government's decision to dismiss two senior officials who were convicted of serious crimes. Kosovo has taken small but positive steps against organised crime and corruption. Kosovo's friends, like your citizens, want this to become a serious attempt targeting the biggest criminals, as well. The arrests are the easiest part. Their judgments and sentences are more important.
