Mitrovica village martyrs remembered

The first to speak at this academy was President Agim Bahtiri, who said it is good to have such memorial gatherings under which we recall the extraordinary contribution our braves have made to the liberation of the homeland.

<x) We are gathered here today to commemorate the martyrs of the village of Kostov, who gave their lives for the dear freedom. Thanks to the blood of martyrs, martyrs, and all fallen, but also thanks to the Kosovo Liberation Army and our international friends we have today an independent state, a freedom which we had before, so today more than ever we should be united for the good of the country and send to the site the trust of these martyrs as well as all the fallen”, Chairman Bahtiri said.

The historian Hadja Salihu, a representative of the village of Kostov, also spoke of the life and work of six down - to - date martyrs, stressing that the village of Kostov has given much of the freedom we are enjoying today.

In this 20th anniversary of the roots of my countrymen who are our martyrs, we residents of the village of Kostov will always be proud of you, for your sacrifice and work so that we can enjoy freedom today. In the village of Kostova, they have given their lives to 17 of my fellow countrymen, while there are others who are still unknown to their fate. From this academy, I call on everyone to work harder at dawning their fate”, Salihu said.

While the family's representative for the missing persons, Bajram Kerkinni, has stressed that even after 20 years we have not yet managed to return all bodies of the fallen for freedom.

“Today 20 years ago, six martyrs of the village of Kostov who gave their lives for the freedom that we are enjoying today, I want to stress that even after 20 years 1,620 people are still missing and from here I call on conscious bodies to work harder to find their body” he said.
