Philippine Army Officials Said I Wing SIS in this country, called “Abu Sayaf” is believed to stand behind the attack on the island of Jolo on Friday. Nine soldiers were also injured in the attack.

The Islamic State Group said this blast was the result of the work of two suicide attackers.

The Philippines has resumed its campaign against militants on the island of Jolos this year after an alleged suicide attack on a Catholic church in January left 21 people dead.

This state is the basis of many armed groups, some of which are part of the long-standing uprising aimed at creating a predominantly Muslim country in the region where most of the population belong to the Christian faith, writes the Guardian”.
