Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appointed Amir Ohana, 43, the acting minister of justice.
Ohana comes from Prime Minister Netanyah's Likud party, considered one of Netanyah's most loyal officials.
His appointment comes days after parliament dissolved to pave the way for new elections.
Netanyahu fired former Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked three days ago.
Her party was part of Netanyija's coalition, but did not get enough seats to return to parliament in the May elections.
Israel is expected to hold elections again after Prime Minister Netanyahu failed to form the ruling coalition, given the election results that were held in May.
