German military continues mandate in Kosovo for another year

Bundestag has decided today for an even year extension of the Bundeswehri mission in Kosovo.
For the KFOR mission in Kosovo, the total number of the 800-strong German contingent is now halved to 400 soldiers. However, currently the determined number of soldiers is 70.
As Zeit reports, 493 German deputies voted against 6 abstentions for the extension of the mission.
The AfD and the Left stressed in their debates that they no longer support a mission of German soldiers to the Balkans.
Since Kosovo declared its independence in 2008, KFOR seeks to develop a stable, democratic, multiethnic and peaceful republic.
Bundestag extended the peace security mission in Lebanon on Friday. Earlier for the extension of the Bundeswehr mission, the German government cabinet had decided.
