To export to EU, growth of Kosovo products is required

In this case, it was said that greater quality and meeting EU requirements and standards are needed to penetrate Kosovo products into the European market.

The debate stressed the needs and requirements of local producers, who requested more support and market regulation.

Kachanic Mayor Besim Ilazi talking about the importance of agriculture in the municipality he runs said that through these projects farmers are the ones that benefit.

Part of this discussion was also the mayor of Elez's Hani municipality, Rufki Suma, said the main problem is in the market, as the collection points are making manipulations and on the part of central institutions there are no measures conditioning them.

Meanwhile, the agriculture sector software manager near the EU Office in Kosovo, Daniela Topicsanou, told of the importance of the SAA and the requirements the EU has for Kosovo products to become competitive in the EU market.

The head of the division for direct support and trade policies under the Ministry of Agriculture, Habil Zeqiri, said some of the measures they have taken to subsidise the farmers and would improve this sector.

Various citizens and producers also expressed their complaints, saying that greater support from responsible institutions is needed to ensure the quality of products.

This debate took place within the project “Support for Communication in the European Integration Process”, which is financed by the European Union office in Kosovo in co-operation with the European Integration Ministry”.
