This statement was made by the European Commission in a document in which a summary of the emergency measures to be taken should Brex be concluded without agreement.
Brussels reiterated this position after Boris Johnson, the main favourite in the race for the replacement of Theresa May, in previous days had threatened not to pay the Brex bill if the EU refuses to renegotiate the deal.
