The Albanian MP in Croatia's Parliament has said that on the basis of statistics in Croatia live around 19,000 Albanians declared, while according to her another number have been declared as Croat or Muslim for economic reasons or to take citizenship.
“We assume we are about 30,000 Albanians in Croatia... Due to procedures for obtaining Croatia's citizenship, some have been declared Croatians to take citizenship more quickly”, she said.
Lekaj-Plasskaya says that when she received the MP's mandate in Kraoci, she has initiated the formation of the Kosovo-Croatia friendly group, as she said she saw that with Albania only that the group existed.
In Kosovo, the representative of this group is Mr. Avdullah Hoti, while in Croatia there is Ivan Celiq, who wants to boost co-operation among states”.
She says that there are already in 17 Croatian schools supplementary learning in Albanian.
“We have shortcomings with the teacher's framework because they don't have a profession, but they also have wills and they teach in Albanian”, Lekaj-Plascaj said.
