Thaci told Haradinaj: Political cultures do not abolish visas, giving Serbs autonomy or removing tax

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has said nationalism and populism do not need Kosovo. He has said that despite nationalisation of populism, Kosovo and Serbia must reach an agreement that would guarantee peace and end with recognition. Thaci also said that for visa liberalisation, he did not.

“Now for the sake of visa liberalisation we cannot give either autonomy to Serbs or association and commitment, and the tariff should remain in force, whoever makes any political gym”, Thaci said, I follow Periscope.

It should now be discussed as other countries have discussed after the wars they have had, to discuss peace, good neighbourlyity and mutual recognition. There is thought and is an effort to reach a comprehensive agreement that would close all open issues between Kosovo and Serbia. Thaci has once again called the Berlin Summit disappointment.

We just met in Berlin as Kosovo and Serbia's delegation. I'm being very frank, that meeting has been a big disappointment. What has been the big disappointment. A general statement has been issued, changing in recent moments, but there has not been any approach to continuing dialogue. The whole success that Berlin has been, at the initiative of President Macron, where we agreed to have a meeting in Paris disappointment was also that we had information at the time but also the reality that was that there wasn't a co-ordination with the United States. Our past is very clear, indicates that without the United States, we cannot do. Ok, we are not in war circumstances, but it is an important agreement that cannot be resolved easily between Kosovo and Serbia”, he has said.

Thaci: EU has closed doors for Kosovo, that's insulting to us 

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci says the European Union has closed its doors to Kosovo. He says we have met all criteria required by the EU, but for three years we have been waiting for a decision that is not being made.

He has made these comments at the conference The Perspectives and Challenges for the Western Balkans”. Thaci has also talked about dialogue with Serbia, where he said the situation should not remain the status quo, as he risks continuing the frozen conflict with Serbia.

The non-liberalisation of visas is also an insult to the citizens of Kosovo, but it is also prejudgment with other consequences because if people continue to remain so, they will seek alternative, whether in the European umbrella or in the national one, President Thaci has said, Periscopi writes.

At these times when we are marking and commemorating the massacres and genocides that Serbia committed during the war and unfortunately, justice has not been imposed by the international community, that genocide, massacres of ethnic cleansing have remained uncondemned. In the coming days, we also mark the 20th anniversary that we won freedom together with NATO. Although we spent 20 years of a story of Kosovo's full success, we face the important challenge of democratic reforms, legislation, economy and politics. Our ambition is to be part of the European family as soon as possible, we have not yet reached the final peace agreement, which would bring recognition between Kosovo and Serbia. We still don't have UN membership where we have a veto from Russia”, he said.
