She says that it was her honour to have served as prime minister, being the second female leader in Britain.
May further said she has done her best to convince MPs to support the withdrawal agreement she has negotiated with the European Union.
Since January of this year, the British Parliament has three times rejected Britain's EU departure agreement.
Britain has had to leave the European Union on 29 March, but Prime Minister Theresa May failed to convince British lawmakers to vote on the deal reached with EU leaders.
However, it managed to obtain EU reconciliation for extending Brex's deadline by October 31st, the date Britain must exit the EU with or without agreement./ P ERISCOPI/
