Police Provide New Details for Action in the North

During the action, mainly in Kosovo's four northern municipalities, dozens of suspects have been arrested, the largest number being police officials.

As it has become known on May 28th 2019, Kosovo Police in co-operation with the Kosovo Police Inspectorate, with the Constitutional Court's order in Pristina and led by the Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo has implemented the command of control in several separate locations throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.

This police operation has been aimed at fighting corruption and organised crime, raiding and arresting several police officials, where police officials have been arrested on the day of the operation (19) members of police who have been suspicious, (10) citizens who have been suspected, (9) other citizens who have obstructed police officials in carrying out office, as well as (1) UNMIK officials.

As a continuation of the investigation into the case so far, (3) police officials who have been involved in the arrest warrant have been arrested.

All persons arrested have been treated according to pre-legal standards and procedures, respecting their rights and freedoms, guaranteed by law.

This police operation has preceded a several-month investigation of the IPK and KP, with the suspicion of involvement of several police officials and citizens in the works; “Pjeserting or organising of the Criminal Group”, regarding other criminal acts such as; “Congratulations with Mallra”, “Quyspecting of Official Posit <6>

The police plan has begun to implement as planned in all regions in which they have largely passed without incident, exempting the region of Zubin Potok, where, at the site called “Klisure”, unknown persons have placed roadblocks on the streets such as wood, fire lighting and heavy vehicles, trucks with heavy records and others.

Police in this area have encountered armed resistance with firearms from suspected persons, with two police officers injured as a result of the shooting, one with difficulty while the other is easily, including some officials injured during actions to open up the barricades imposed by citizens.

Most of the suspects were violent during the arrest, and as a result, the police had to use the necessary and proportional force in order to bring the suspects under control.

It is noteworthy that during the removal of barricades and some people who had taken to the streets with the intention of obstructing police, sometimes a white Toyota vehicle with license plates and UN signs has been spotted, moving with suspects to several locations.

The car leader has helped violent protesters by placing his official car in the middle of the road in front of suspected persons and the established barricade, where a Motoshara was discovered in the passenger section, which was used by suspected persons for cutting wood and putting them in the barricade.

Despite the fact that police officials have repeatedly sought to clear the way, repeating the request in English, the same has refused police orders by refusing to accept, communicate, identify and clear the way.

Police officials finding themselves in a dangerous situation have forced him out of the car and arrested him to escort him to the police. The person in question was initially offered medical assistance at the Mitrovica hospital.

By order of Mitrovica's competent chief prosecutor The UN, although suspected of his illegal actions, respecting the person's immunity in question, has not been pronounced any measure or stop, and the same has been released along with his car and handed over to UN staff in Mitrovica, but the same has been prosecuted for obstructing police officials in carrying out office and participating in the crowd.
