Former French European Affairs Minister Laurent Waquiez, in the government of Francois, is initiated in 2010 and 2011 by an enlargement supporter, has become an opponent.
Today the head of France's Republican Party, Waquiez, accuses President Emmanuel Macron of working for European Union enlargement, writes Oranews.
During an interview for Franceinfo, Waquiez guarantees that membership negotiations for Albania will open in June.
The president of the Republic proposes Albania's membership. I think this is a serious mistake. It's a country marred by corruption. Negotiations with Albania will open in June, but we will challenge this by veto”, Waquiez said during the interview.
Just to avoid such radical positions by Eurosceptics, leading EU leaders -- among them Merkel and Macorn -- did not like to address the issue of opening negotiations during the Berlin summit, postponing decision-making after the European elections of late May or autumn.
In his interview, the head of France's Republican Party also says enlargement is a mistake and one of the main causes of the bloc's weakening.
Brussels has faced problems with countries such as Poland, Hungary, Romania and Croatia, whose membership now following the appearance of problems is considered premature.
