So said at the signing ceremony of the administration directive, with which citizens will have lower drug prices.
Health Minister Uran Ismaili said it is a reform which has been expected many years in advance and now at last is this need that has been sought by both pharmacists and citizens.
According to him, the pharmacies have been in a huge chaos which has caused purchase at high prices and the lack of legislation on the ground, and that Kosovo and Belarus have been the only two states in Evripi, who have not behind the drug price regulation system, and as such Kosovo has allowed our citizens and money to be the prey to various abuses.
Meanwhile, he also talked about the effects of administrative instruction, where he said our citizens are buying drugs for 10m euros more than those of Macedonia or Albania.
The state will create a legislative dam against corruption against drug abuse. It will not allow at the price of the cheapest value in all surrounding states to be sold to Kosovo at more expensive prices. You are personally witnesses that we have had opportunity in Kosovo is bought grass 200-300 per cent more expensive than it was bought on the private market or in places around. This administrative directive will once and for all prevent, not only by political will but also by law that the Republic of Kosovo buy more expensive drugs than they value them. This will protect millions of euros“, he said.
Chief Parliamentary Kadri Wessel said it is a determined achievement that can be considered historical.
Someone didn't believe this couldn't be achieved, but this is happening. 10m euros will be saved for the fact that no one has believed in our hospitals that 100 per cent can be achieved in two hours, but that today it has been achieved and that we have downplayed our citizens' expenses“, he said.
The chairman of the Kosovo Pharmacists' Oda, Arian Jakupi, cited cases where prices have disreplacement from drugs to drugstore, which often at night even freeze prices, damaging citizens.
This administration directive aims to regulate and unify the prices of medical products in the pharmaceutical sector in Kosovo, assigning the criteria and methodology of setting prices for management products“, he said.
The implementation of this instruction, it was said, will affect lowering drug prices, will also contribute to drug spending in the public sector.
