The American Economic Oda in Kosovo recognises as a positive step the failure to pass the proposed amendment to Law No. 05L-123 over automation vehicles to remove restrictions on imports of cars older than 10 years. This step should be seen as reaffirming Kosovo's dedication in the area of environmental protection and approach of its norms to those of the European Union.
The American Oda has even earlier called on all MPs not to support such a change that would exacerbate the situation in the country both in terms of environmental impact and in terms of traffic security. Taking into account the fact that the average age of vehicles registered in Kosovo is over 18 years and the fact that the country faces high levels of pollution during certain periods of the year, implications from such a change would raise even more concerns among citizens. Of course, the short-term positive effects of such a step would be minimal compared to the damage that older vehicles can cause.
In the end, the American Oda re-increases the belief that the failure to pass this administration is in spirit with European Union initiatives to reduce gas emissions from heavy and light vehicles. The following period should be marked by increasing the dynamics of the Parliament's work in the review and approval of laws aimed at citizens' welfare and improving the business environment, taking into account the comments and recommendations of all interest parties.
