The European Parliament's rapporteur for Serbia, David Mcallister, has ordered Serbia that it should continue the process of dialogue with Kosovo as soon as possible and reach a legal agreement.
During the presentation of this year's report, Mcalister urged Serbia to continue reforms in the key “judiciary”, the fight against corruption and organised crime, as well as freedom of expression and media.
He said Serbia is progressing on its path to the EU and that the overall pace of negotiations depends on progress in adopting and implementing reforms in key areas.
Mcallister added that dialogue and normalising relations with Kosovo is a major challenge for Serbia.
“Dialog must resume as soon as possible, but we know that it is necessary to reach a legally binding” agreement, he said, broadcast Kosovas Prees.
Otherwise, Serbia has conditioned the continuation of the dialogue process with the removal of the tax on Serbian goods, which official Pristina imposed in November last year, which Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has insisted will be removed only when Belgrade recognises Kosovo's independent state.
