It took help from a foreign expert to know how to deal with the brown bear, which has been roaming Prizren's mountains for weeks now. Anni that Kosovo institutions made the decision to kill him, Croatian Professor Slaven Reljic has indicated about his proposals to Kosovo institutions about the way it should deal with the bear. The Croatian has been in Kosovo for two days, and his advice is interesting. Says the reason for the bear's visit to Prizren villages concerns the desire for mating. But if the bear is violent in humans, then it must be eliminated.
Aru is a highly opportunistic animal and proves many ways to find food. It goes everywhere and tries to find something to eat.”, that was the Croatian professor's theory of the presence of the brown bear which has been wandering through Prizren's mountains for weeks now.
Slaven Reljiq, the Croatian professor who has experience in planning tourism during his stay in Kosovo, has given advice to local institutions on how to deal with the bear that killed 28 sheep to a family in the village of Pousk in Prizren.
He in some responses that Gazeta Express was sent through officials from “Bear Forest” in Badovc, that this season is the time when bears mate. So the presence of the brown bear within the village of Powscan can connect to this issue.
The reason they act in this way is because they have much less space during this season and older male bears start looking for female bears, and because of mating they become more aggressive”, the professor said.
According to him, young female bears seek refuge in human settlements.
And when they don't have enough food they start walking around the village. They are known for their good sense of smell and do not stop until they find food”, the expert explains.
But he has also given some advice on how to catch the bear. He says he can be shot with rubber bullets.
Before such a decision is made, that is, to kill the bear, there are many steps to take, such as shooting bear with rubber bullets or fireworks, or there are sensors that make big noises, so the light goes off and so the bear leaves”, Croatian professor Slaven Reljic has said away.
But if the bear is aggressive even with the people, then it should be eliminated.
After we take all these steps and the bear keeps coming back that it doesn't show any fear of people in this case you have to conclude that something is wrong with the bear, that he's dangerous and that in this case the elimination of it” is recommended, the professor has clarified.
And several days earlier, the Forest Agency Inspectorate had published the decision saying that the bear was declared temporarily damaging animals allowing its/her murder.
Against this decision, however, environmental Ministry officials have emerged. This minister is declaring that the Forest Inspectorate has no legal basis for the decision made in the assassination, meanwhile, are considering the opportunities to file indictments against forest agency officials.
So has Environment and Spatial Planning Minister Fatmir Matosi stated. He amdje has warned the indictment against all those who take the opportunity to kill the bear.
“We are against the decision of the Agency of Forests Inspector for the murder of a wounded bear. We suggest that we are going to file charges on any person who tries to commit such an act. We're thinking about prosecutions for lawsuits. I don't know if the Inspectorate decision is legitimate. They must understand that within National Park, the Agency for Environmental Protection” is managing, the environment minister told Express.
Prizren's problematic bear édebutation had done its first in April of this year. It is reported that the brown bear had caused an incident in Prizren's Pousk, where it killed 28 of a farmer's sheep, which it cost material damage to 3,000 euros. The news became the headline of the day, because such an event had never occurred in Kosovo.
