North Mitrovica chairmanial candidate from PDK ranks Gonge Chaushi, who has visited businesses today at the Bosniaks' neighbourhood, said ready for the race, saying she expects a peaceful, correct and democratic campaign.
We expect everything to be okay, quiet, and dignified, both during the campaign and on election day. I also expect the number of Albanian voters to be greater, while reducing the number of Serbian citizens due to non-participation in the opposition”, has told Kosovas Chaushi.
Even North Mitrovica Mayor Vetevendosje candidate Erden Attic envisions calm and dignified campaigns.
He has made it known to Kosova Prees that during the day he will meet citizens of different northern neighbourhoods, to become closely acquainted with their concerns and problems, until he said he would present to them the priorities of the Movement on Citizens.
“We call on all citizens to vote on the Vetevendosje Movement, which will ensure that well-being and quality increase in citizens' services. Local governance should facilitate the life of neighbourhoods and villages, so we are fully engaged in such a thing”, Attic said.
Meanwhile, politicologist Musa Preteni sees the elections only as a political game orchestrated by Belgrade, with the sole aim of not allowing the return of political normality to the north.
According to him, even after the elections, whose outcome is known, the situation in the north will be the same. He explained that the Serbian List's political position will only strengthen, and that in the future will enable the mayors of municipalities to resume the same actions for paralyzing political life in that part.
“These elections are the continuation of a political game orchestrated by Belgrade with the sole purpose of not allowing the return of political normality to the north. After these elections, the result of which is known, to be won by the Serbian List, the situation in the north will be the same. So these elections will give no political solution to that part, but will only reinforce the political position of the Serbian List, respectively, official Belgrade. This gives future mayors the opportunity to take the same action whenever they take the same actions for paralyzing political life in that section”, Preten said.
Kosova Preris has also tried to contact Serbian List candidate Goran Rakiq, but without success.
Otherwise, the May 19th extraordinary elections will take place in northern Mitrovica, Leposaviq, Zvecan and Zubin Potok, while the vote's rights total 58,520 citizens, respectively, in northern Mitrovica 22 thousand and 242, in Leposaviq 18 thousand and 390, in Zvecan 9 thousand and 276 and Zubin Potok, have 8 thousand and 612 people.
