About 2,000 people protest at Basel

Citizens and activists at Basel, Switzerland, today have staged a protest against agrochemical firms as part of a global movement. Organisers said about 2000 people marched to Chinese company headquarters “Cem China” on Saturday, writes Swissinfo.ch. Likewise, Bayer and BASF firms were targeted by protesters, albinfo.ch, in Albanian.
Among other things, they demanded a ban on pesticides. Protesters blamed the chemical industries, which they claimed produced dangerous pesticides that affected the extinction of many insect species.
This protest was backed by trade unions, leftist parties, as well as human rights groups and environmental protection groups.
