They say the guards confronted the 37-year-old as he was entering Manhattan's church on Wednesday evening, translates Periscope from the BBC.
He poured oil on the ground and so the officers took him to the police station.
John Miller, deputy police commissioner, said the suspicious “incident” occurred just two days after the fire destroyed the Nore-Damey cathedral in Paris.
When faced with police, the man in question said that his car was out of oil and was cutting short on the cathedral to get there. When the police saw the bison, they found that they were not without oil as they claimed but filled with oil.
“We don't know what was going on,” said Miller.
As for Notre Dame Cathedral, authorities have said the fire was accidentally caused during its renovation. /Periscope
