In recent days we are witnessing a wave of citizens leaving Kosovo to seek a better life in foreign countries. Kosovo is also losing health professionals, mainly the new framework. Within a year, about 158 health professionals left Kosovo.
Labour conditions and lack of specialisation are the main reasons that are forcing health professionals to leave Kosovo and go to Western countries, they estimate at the Oda of Medicines.
Only this year did 47 health professionals abandon Kosovo.
For the Federation of Health Unions, the going of doctors from Kosovo to the west is disturbing. But they say this departure has been expected.
In the Ministry of Health, doctors say there is no reason to leave Kosovo, as doctors, according to them, have higher wages in the region and good working conditions.
They pledge that during this year they will take steps that will improve the working conditions even more so that health professionals do not see the West as a location.
