A candidate of Turkey's Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Ankara said on Monday there were many “clear irregularities” in hundreds of election polling boxes, as their opposition rival secured victory in the local elections in that city.
Mehmet Ozaseki, the AKP's candidate, said his party rejected the election results in Ankara's “maintaining justice” rather than the “mentality, we must win”.
According to unofficial results published by Turkish state media, the opposition Republican People's Party Mansur Javas is the new mayor of the Turkish capital.
