These elections will be key to LDK's fate

The LDK's future will depend on the success of its election process. The more democratic the process, the stronger the party will be, analysts say. However, they do not expect major changes from this party. The possibility that each member of LDK will have the right to run for [...]
The possibility that each member of the LDK will have the right to run for LDK chairmanship made the party even more democratic. That's how politician Ramush Tahiri values. Restrictions for the candidacies issued by my Central Council of LDK in previous elections should not be practiced, Tahiri says.
“Now there are statements that a body is needed or should be partyed to decide how people should run. For me, the LDK should be democratic, and the proposals should be as well as 100 proposals for chairmanship from the branches, and with the electoral process as the branches go, as well as profile candidates. And, if it's located in Congress or Council, anywhere, it would be good to have as many candidates (ten or fifteen) in the first round and in the second to have three candidate”, Tahiri said.
Recognising the LDK mentality and the experience from past elections, Tahiri says they want to enter the race, but the process has been known since, respectively, to know before the vote who could be the mayor. If that happens, there may be divisions again, but if the process is to pass in a democratic manner, the LDK will be a strong party and the future for governance.
“These elections will be key elections for the fate of LDK in some form even for the quality of governance in Kosovo, because future governance will be with an LDK turnout if unity is maintained”, Tahiri tells RTK.
Analyst Blerim Burjani also says it would be good to respect domestic democracy and branches decide on candidacys that could become part of the central level. But the situation is very different, he says. Despite the fact that some members have shown interest in the race for the first LDK, there is no consensus in LDK, except that Isa Mustafa can run as a single person, Burjani says.
I don't expect any change, maybe it would be good if they don't have any other political consensus, better run Isa Mustaf than destroyed my political subject or split into two. So much better it would be for LDK organs to be determined for a transitional candidate, so for a chairman who would have a mandate defined “, Burjan said.
In May, however, the Democratic League of Kosovo is expected to officially announce candidacy for chairmanship of this party.
