He stressed that Serbia must be aware that without clear progress in relations with Kosovo it will not be able to join the European Union.
Any solution for Kosovo should have majority support, especially the permanent members of the Security Council. We have an interest in being in close partnership with the United States regarding the Western Balkans and to have their support by encouraging progress on this important matter”, Cuz said.
He added that Serbian citizens should be aware that without sweeping involvement between Belgrade and Pristina, there will be no accession to the European Union.
The Austrian Chancellor said his country supports both Kosovo and Serbia in their dialogue on normalising relations.
“I support EU accession, I think EU accession is the best guarantee for stability in the region. And the fact that Austria is one of the biggest investors in Serbia and in the countries of the region shows that we still see even more development opportunities in the region”, Kurz added, broadcast Indexline.
He added that Austria has good relations with both countries, and that resolving the issue between Kosovo and Serbia will benefit both sides.
Kurz also commented on the idea of correcting borders.
“I have publicly stated that we will support what both sides agree on, but this should make clear that it should be such a solution contributing to more stability and not to more instability. I am convinced that this achievement is possible”, said Kurz.
