The Morgut of Gjilan General Hospital, now four months old, has closed the door and no service is provided.
Because management, the municipality and the Islamic Community have agreed that a nongovernmental organisation to send the remains of persons who die in this hospital to private morgues, KTV reports.
Thus, family members who want their deceased relatives to stay in the morgue are forced to pay for 20 euros a night and not to use the free hospital morgue.
KTV has spoken to the NGO “Berecketi”, whose numbers and Islamic Community numbers, the medical staff recommends to citizens to call.
However, laws in force do not allow private morgues to exist except for that of the public hospital institution.
Even according to Article 21 of the administrative instruction regulating morgue services, even private clinics are obliged to keep corpses in the morgue of public hospitals.
But in Gnjilan, in Gavran district, the private morgue works smoothly in the basement of the mosque “Dardania”.
The Gjilan municipality insists that it is those who pay such services to citizens, including staying in the private morgue, which totals 60 euros per person.
The director of Public Services in this municipality, Naser Corca, even knows that there is a morgue within the city's hospital.
At the Regional Hospital of Gjilan, they deny that this morgue is not being exploited until they say that citizens have the opportunity to choose where they want to keep their family at death.
However, Kohavision has lasted more than four hours, in two different days, before this morgue, but there has been no movement but the officer in charge.
He wouldn't talk if there were corpses that were recently in the morgue.
