Wessel EUE: You're liberalizing our visas and getting us young people with working visas.

Wessel has said it is disturbing how the EU is not liberalising visas, but on the other hand it is taking Kosovo youth through their countries with working visas.
Any delay of the EU for visa liberalisation hurts their credibility over member states. We have met all criteria for free movement. It's their problem why they're liberalizing them. We are the only citizens, most pro-Western and isolated. Every year our young people are taking us. Tens of thousands of citizens are giving jobs, and they are liberalising them as a whole. It is likely that young people will be disappointed with their jobs, that they are very heavy”, Vessel said.
The European Parliament is expected to vote today on future steps of the visa liberalisation process for Kosovo citizens.
Yesterday, the European Parliament discussed this issue, where differences among European representatives were noted.
Kosovo's rapporteur at the European Parliament, Tanja Fajon, said Europe is losing credibility and Kosovo citizens are losing hope in terms of visa liberalisation.
She has added that Kosovo has fulfilled its obligations, while calling attention that increasing radicalism may be the result of Kosovo's isolation and despair, as the EU has failed to fulfill its promise.
Through a tweet, the European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs, and State, Dimitris Avramoopoulos, also reacted. He wrote that he is happy that the European Parliament understands the importance of visa liberalisation for Kosovars.
This is not just to be fair and to recognise their efforts, but it is important for stability in the region. The European perspective of the entire region is at stake”, he wrote.
The visa liberalisation process started in 2012 where Kosovo was asked to meet 95 criteria to receive positive recommendation for liberalisation. This recommendation was granted in July last year, while in September the European Parliament voted for visa liberalisation.
However, in December, the Council of Ministers did not put this matter on their agenda. / P ERISCOPIA
