Turkey on the other hand has said that EU membership remains one of the main strategic goals, though membership talks -- which have officially started in 2004, have been blocked for years.
Weber, the candidate of the centre-right party for the position of European Commission president, has said, however, in Barvari on Wednesday that “each wants to have better relations with Turkey and that each wants to co-operate more”.
