New Zealand Prime Minister Yacinda Ardern has said 49 people have died and another 20 have been seriously injured as a result of two terrorist attacks on two mosques in the city, Christchric.
It has described this event as a terrorist attack and one of the worst “days” for this country.
Police have confirmed that a man is charged with murder and will appear before the tribunal on Saturday morning. Authorities have detained two other men and a woman, near the area where firearms were confiscated, police commissioner Mike Bush has said.
One of them is said to have not been involved in the incident, while the other two investigations are still continuing.
Part of the attack was broadcast directly into social networks, in the profile of one of the attackers. In the video, which Radio Free Europe will not broadcast, there are sounds of a Serbian song honouring Bosnia's bicker, war crimes convict Radovan Karadzic.
Police in New Zealand have called on the public not to distribute these extremely disturbing “images:
The social network, Facebook, has said it has blocked the accounts of the suspected Facebook and Instagram assailant and that it is working to remove all images stemming from that post.
The prime minister of Australia, Scott Morrison, has said that one of the detainees is an Australian citizen.
He has described the attack suspect as the violent ultra-right <x0-terrorist”.
The Australian suspect is believed to have published a manifesto in which he has revealed his intentions, based on anti-migrading and extreme right ideology, writes relief, says Periscope.
