On March 7, 1887, the first Albanian teacher opened in Korca. Her first teacher and director was Pandeli Sotiri.
This event was a victory for the Albanian people, as to that time the lessons were held in private and secret homes. This school remained open for 15 years. Its leaders were prominent figures of Albanian Renaissance as: Pandeli Sotiri, Petro nini Lurasi, Nuchi Nachi, Thoma Avrami, and others.
The school's facility in Korca is one of the most visited points in Albania.
In honor of this day, activities in Kosovo to honor teachers and Teachers ' Day will be of various activities at each school.
