In a report to the US Embassy in Belgrade, the United States reportedly calls for the removal of the tariff, halting mutual provocations and continuing dialogue”.
At a rally after the meeting, Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, has called the decision irresponsible and contrary to dialogue, the adoption of the platform, and has mentioned the catastrophe, if Pristina continues with, as it has said, irresponsible actions.
That document is difficult for us, but I beg you to have faith in us. We will not react quickly, we will wait a few days or weeks before making our decision on the necessary measures. But I guarantee that our answer will be firm, to protect the interest of our state and of Serbia in Kosovo, leaving open the possibility of continuing dialogue, but some people must become more serious. While those who are supporting Pristina and pretending not to see what they are doing, it is good to think about how close we are to disaster if such irresponsible Pristina actions --” continue, Vucinqi said.
David Hale, in Belgrade, has also met with Prime Minister Ana Brnabiq and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic.
For platform, I can only say it's the opposite of sound mind. It's a document that takes a long time to say what I want. It's against compromise and further dialogue. It's not about life, at least Serbs in Kosovo, or anything else. We'll continue to analyze this document”, Brnabiq said.
US Undersecretary of State David Hale will stay in Kosovo on Saturday and meet with institutional leaders.
The issue of the tax on Serbian goods and the continuation of dialogue, with the goal of reaching an agreement with Serbia, are expected to be the main topics at these meetings.
The United States has consistently demanded tax suspension to pave the way for dialogue between two states.
