“Top Story” traveled to Gerdec to bring back to the attention of the event there and the consequences it left behind.
Regina, 17, is one of the characters interviewed. She recalls and relates the entire explosion that took place in Gerdec and how a shell hit and knocked her unconscious, the moment that changed her whole life. He was only six at the time.
After this moment, Regina's life was driven by needles in the hospital and in hopes of recovery back to normal life, and she lost one arm in the war.
I didn't know what had happened, and the drugs did their job. But I realized a little later when my dad told me don't come back to the other side because you get hurt, and when the kid's curiosity pushed me, why don't I come back, and then when I touched my arm... That I didn't see myself, neither in the mirror nor anywhere else, I was bandaged, until I realized I had”, relates Regina Murati, former resident of Gerdec.
