These charges have been filed by the Kosovo Special Prosecutor's Office against two indictees -- Darko Taksic and Milorad Zjiqi, KTV reports.
The data has been released in the publishing of the Report for 2018, the <x0 War Years: The transition that does not promise”, from the Fund for Humanitarian Law.
The founder of the Fund for Humanitarian Law, Natasa Ka persecuted, has called that dialogue with Serbia should be a priority discussion on the dawning of war crimes.
The “when we talk about war crimes is a similar situation in the entire territory of the former Yugoslavia. Criminal justice has not achieved the intensity we have expected to see. That opens the question of what is happening to Kosovo's criminal justice. One of the priorities for normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia is co-operation in processing war crimes -- this is very important for victims”, Persecuted has said.
“1,600 missing persons and 12,000 civilians killed, thousands of victims of sexual violence. The UK has been close to Kosovo in the most difficult times. Every victim demands justice, and justice must be applied to these victims”, said Tom Adams Deputy Mission Leader, the British Embassy.
And, the chief of the War Crimes Department, Dr. Hejadar, has said that, even after two decades of war in Kosovo, they are still in the beginning to try these cases.
While, from the Ministry of Justice, Altin Ademi indicated that justice should not be revenge and that past injustices should be addressed in order for justice to come to the country.
From 1999 until 2018, 61 people have been charged with war crimes, with sentences of only 39 people.
