Minister Tahiri informs EU of developments in rule of law

Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri, during a meeting today with the ambassadors of the European Union countries, has discussed the rule of law in Kosovo and the sector's undertaken legislative reforms. He mentioned changes initiated by the new Criminal Code, reforming the policy of preventing conflict of interest through the new Law regulating this area, the Anti-Corruption Pack, and the Partion of the Judiciary Law.
According to Minister Tahiri, substantial changes have also been made in the Criminal Procedure Code, while currently working on the Property Declaration Bill.
It has also mentioned the joint agenda “Directorate 2020”, which aims to address five fundamental problems: reducing the backlog; meeting the capacities; inter-institutionary co-ordination; increasing performance and accountability of independent law enforcement bodies; and effective enforcement of laws.
Although separate powers, Minister Tahiri has stressed that co-operation with “Justice 2020” is designed to increase and generally improve the justice system.
He has noted that in addition to this agenda, it will also be worked on in the process of functional revision, to look closely at problems, and to find long - term solutions.
“Krahas “Justice 2020” and legislative agenda, this year we will work hard to successfully complete the process of functional revision of the Law Rule Sector, which has now begun a year and included in it the more comprehensive co-ordinating and reforming process in the rule of law sector” has said the minister Tahiri.
