Albania is ranked 107th out of 156 states in the 2019 Happiness Index, published today by the United Nations Organization, being the last in Europe, the most unhappy, although it has marked slight improvement of 5 countries in proportion to previous year's rankings.
The indicators on which the index is based take per capita income, expectations for a healthy life, support from friends and relatives, charity data, freedom to make choices in life and perceived levels of corruption, indicators for which Albanians seem to result in the most unhappy in the region and Europe.
Albania ranks at almost the same levels as Venezuela, Cambodia, Palestine, Somalia, Namibia, Laosi, and others.
Unlike Albanians of Albania, Kosovo are much more positive and happy with their lives. Kosovo is ranked 46th, with a significant improvement of 20 countries and being the happiest in the region and 16th in the world for the positive change of this index for 2016-2018.
Of the countries in the region, Bosnia is in 78th place, with an apparent improvement from 98th last year, Macedonia, instead of 84 (five-seat improvement), Montenegro, instead of 73 ( 8-nation improvement), Serbia, instead of 70 (8 more countries),
Nordic countries continue to be the happiest. In the latest rankings, Finland, followed by Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Holland, Switzerland, Sweden, New Zealand, Canada and the ten, broadcast the Monitor.
The most unhappy countries in the world are Rwanda, Tanzania, Afghanistan, South Sudan.
Among the 20 most corrupt countries in the world
The worst ranking index is corruption, where Albania ranks 134th, again among the 20 most corrupt in the world, as previous reports have released. Getting corruption is the regional average of responses surveyed to two GALLUP survey questions: “A is corruption spread across government or not” and “A is widespread corruption among businesses or not?” The answer is the average between responses 0 or 1 (the closer to zero, the less corrupt), where Albania is estimated at 0.9, so very close to 1, showing a corrupt and growing country in this index in relation to the previous year, when it was 0.87.
In Europe, along with Albania, perception of corruption is high and in Italy, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Macedonia.
The other problematic index is that of social support, where we are in the country of 133, followed by negative feelings (108), while we are better listed in expectation of a healthy life in the east (40).
Report
The Happiness Report is based on an annual survey asking about 1,000 individuals in more than 150 countries in the world who are asked to rank, from 1 to 10, to see if they are living well. (Albania has received 4.719 points this year).
The report aims to mass and understand subjective well-being.
Researchers have used six indicators to understand the results: The production of Brto Interior per capita, the expectation of a healthy life at birth, support from friends and relatives, charity, freedom to make choices in life and perceived levels of corruption.
Individuals are asked the Gallup Institute questions such as “if you would be in trouble, do you have relatives or friends where you can rely on helping you when you need them? ”, or “Are you satisfied or unhappy with the freedom to choose what you want to do in life?” Another question is “Have you donated money to charity in recent months?”.
The perceptions of corruption are also taken by the Gallup survey on two questions: “is corruption widespread in government or not?” and “ls corruption widespread in businesses?” These questions combine with other indicators, such as per capita income, according to the purchasing power published by the World Bank and the World Health Organization's data on expectations for a healthy life at birth.
