However, United States officials told Reuters that the fighting has continued even during Thursday between the forces backed by the US and the so-called militant group Islamic State on the last territory they control.

Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have clashed during Thursday with militants hiding in the Baghouz region. Syrian forces have been supported by the United States-led coalition.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders told reporters Friday at the White House that the militant group no longer maintains any territory in Syria.
