By 8:00am, the Anti-Corruption Agency has announced all 4839 public officials that, in line with legal deadlines, they must meet and submit their property statements to the agency, KTV reports.
This statement is obliged to submit to all senior public officials, except those who have declared property in the case of taking office after the January 1st of this year.
But traditionally, public officials, according to the director of the AKK's Department for Prevention of Corruption, Africa Atashi, make their statement at the end of the month, and that fact is causing problems to agency officials.
Last year, 86 public officials had not declared their property. The Anti-Corruption Agency has indicated that they have been subjected to criminal charges of contempt.
But they are not satisfied with the sentences they are serving the courts, even though false statements or contempt may be sentenced to up to 5 years in prison.
Given the decisions the courts made in the past, officials who did not declare their property were sentenced to fines and were small.
On the AKK Web site are several court decisions of 2012,2013 and 2014, and fines range from 10 euros to 500 euros.
