Long ago it was Federica Moghrin himself who had come to Mitrovica to clear the bridge, but was the mayor of the northern municipality at the time, Goran Rakiq, had declined.
Two years later, the bridge continues to be closed and the date for its opening does not exist.
Contacted by Indexline, the European Union Office in Kosovo has stressed that works on opening this bridge have technically been completed.
“Works for the revival of the main bridge and its district in Mitrovica are technically complete”, said by the EU office.
The plan is stressed that the European Union is working with Belgrade and Pristina on the issue.
The opening of the bridge according to them is precisely about developing dialogue between the two countries, as well as implementing agreements that have been made within this dialogue.
“The EU is working with Belgrade and Pristina. All dialogue agreements, including the one regarding the main bridge, must be implemented overall as soon as possible”, said further in the EU's response.
Long ago, the head of the Municipal Administration in northern Mitrovica, Adriana Hodzic, had declared that she hopes the bridge issue over the Iber River will be completed by the end of 2018, which did not take place.
South Mitrovica Chairman Agim Bahtiri had given several dates for the possibility of opening this bridge, but these dates turned out to be incorrect after 2019 found the bridge in the same condition, with no possibility for the flow of vehicles and people on this side.
