Following the adoption of the Law for Salaries from the Assembly of Kosovo, civil servants, the Kosovo Energy Corporation Union, the Workers' Union in the Correcting Service, Transmission and Energy Market Operator in Kosovo (KOSTT), as well as surgeons of the University Clinical Centre and junior school teachers sought by President Hashim Thaci to return this law to the Assembly.
But Thaci has quietly allowed the law to be considered declared, since neither has he signed it nor broken it in the Assembly. So now some of these unions warn of the possibility of protesting or entering strikes, although they confirm they are not sufficiently informed of the content of the law, as well as procedures and with the enforcement of that law.
Nexhat Llumnica, from the KEK Union, has told the newspaper “Voice” that KEK workers cannot be considered civilian servants or administration employees. Therefore, he has said that if KEK is eventually involved under this law, then strikes are inevitable.
In case of approval of this law, then it's up to us to decide as Unions based on the Union Station, and we'll certainly make strikes, but we're going to drain other options until it comes to approval of the law and if there's no other option, then the strike is inevitable. Actually, we're going to do the strike as they try to get us into this law.
