Macedonia's Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi says on Friday that Greece's Parliament is expected to ratify the protocol signed today by all NATO member states, through which it is possible for Macedonia to be the state of 305 members in the largest military alliance.
With that, Xhaferi says he is testifying that Greece is paving the way for Macedonia to NATO.
During an interview for Kosovo Press, Xhaferi has praised Macedonia's citizens and institutions for this achievement, which he called a historic day.
He has acknowledged that there have been many challenges to this achievement.
We remember that NATO member states have signed today, in Brussels, the North Macedonia membership protocol in the largest military alliance.
The alliance's secretary - general, Jens Stoltenberg, considered it historic today.
Macedonian Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov also attended the Council meeting, held at NATO headquarters.
Now, the protocol must be ratified by all member states.
And until ratification by all member states, Macedonia can attend Council meetings, but without the right to vote, or deploy the flag. After ratification is completed, she becomes a full member.
The opening of the road towards Euro-Atlantic membership of northern Macedonia was made with the resolution of a 30-year name stalemate with Greece. /Kosovo priss
