US: Serbia on the wrong side of history, even for Venezuela crisis

The United States Ambassador to Serbia, Kyle Scott, has said Serbia is on the wrong side of history when its stance on the crisis in Venezuela is at stake. Venezuela's “People have included hunger under the illegal rule of the dictatorial regime and more than 50 countries in Latin America, North America and Western Europe have stood near Venezuela's people and interim President Guaido”, Scott said on Twitter.
About 50 countries worldwide have recognised opposition leader Juan Guaido as the interim president of Venezuela.
The controversial president, Nicolas Maduro, who has been in power since 2013, has been criticised both at home and abroad for the weak economy in Venezuela.
He is being supported by China, Russia and several other countries.
The United Nations has estimated that over three million people have fled Venezuela in recent years because of high inflation and lack of food and medicine. / REL
