The Agency for Gender Equality strongly condemns the latest case in which a minor girl became prey to sexual rape and abuse by Kosovo Police investigator in the Drensas municipality, and calls for the swiftest dawn of the case and the author's conduct to justice.
“Actions like this of abuse and abuse of minor persons, which endangers the lives and well-being of girls, is an act of abuse of official duty, abuse of trust in the loan institution like the Kosovo Police, can shake trust in institutions in which Kosovo society has invested in the creation of professional human capacities, faith which the institution itself created over the years”, the statement said.
The ABR urges Kosovo police urgently to take the necessary procedure steps for efficiency of the gender-based violence victims' system and to ensure society that the system is functional.
“We demand as soon as possible clarification of the case, maximum punishment of the guilty, as well as investigating and bringing justice to all those who may have been behind the information on the case and have not carried out their commitments to inform order institutions of the victim's continued abuse. We appreciate that we are facing a phenomenon with devastating consequences for life, the dignity and security of women and girls, and the response should be socially good to bring justice to the country”, the statement further states.
The WBG re-intensifies that no action in the direction of enforcement of the legal framework condemning violence on gender grounds, besides endangering the welfare of citizens, is a failure to enforce the rule of law and that all acters who endanger rule of law must be brought to justice and bear individual consequences.
Otherwise, the Kosovo Criminal Code says that for violations in circumstances involving exploitation of authority, and age, the penalty for this work is 5 to 15 years in prison.
