It has not yet been decided when missing classes will be replaced due to the three-week teacher strike. Although it is said that these hours will be replaced, it is still unknown when the decision is expected.

While the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology say one of the ways that can be chosen for the replacement of hours is to continue teaching for three weeks from the day when the completion of the lesson is preceded, the SBASK says it is the teachers who will decide when that replacement will take place.

Education Minister Valmir Gashi's adviser, has shown some of the ways the replacement is meant to take place after the meeting they have had with the municipal education directors.

The decision was not yet taken, but the day before we held a meeting with the Municipal Education Directorate, where other topics were discussed, but among the main topics were the question of replacing hours lost during the strike. We have received suggestions from municipal directors and have discussed all the best ways of replacing these hours. The ministry is still awaiting final reports from all municipalities at the country level, so that on the basis of these reports the decision can be issued... Some of the suggestions that have even received greater agreement at that meeting have been that spring break means that there is a possibility that spring break will have a learning process, not a break. Also, a part of the weekend, but this starts a little bit later this month and the hours that remain at the end of the” school year, he said.

Although three weeks of teachers have not kept learning, they have been paid for January. The education ministry refuses to speak about the issue, saying it is a matter of municipalities.

The hours will also be replaced and said by the United Education, Science and Culture Union, but which points out that it is teachers who will decide when this will happen.

SBASAK Vice President Vjollca Shala, for Kosova Preris, has said that even though the law on strikes allows the strike days not to be replaced, the teachers have claimed they are willing to replace lost hours.

The “Ende has not reached such a decision, because the decision to compensate the hours is received and the teachers will be who will decide how to make the compensation hours, whether they will do it at the end of the year, whether they will do it on Saturdays or so. It means that the teachers will also decide on time compensation, but also find the best shape or opportunity to compensate for those”, it has been expressed.

Even in terms of the payment teachers received for the month of January, Shala says it is regulated by the law on strikes.

“Educators are paid because the law on the strike allows the strike to be held, and under the law on strikes there is a provision saying that workers or employees who are on strike, which in concrete cases the teachers have been in their jobs, no ban is given as far as material income is concerned”, she has said.

Why the Ministry of Education and the SBASK say hours will be replaced, by the “Institute Edguard” say that even if this replacement doesn't happen is not going to lose something.

Youth Qehaja from this institute, has said how many times such replacements were not always the quality of teaching at these hours has been the right one.

“against what does not have a legal obligation to replace these hours, we remind ourselves that even if something like this is happening, the quality of a literal teaching process will hardly be achieved. So it's also practical from the past that every time there's been replacements like this not always the quality of teaching at these hours has been right. For this reason, in our assessment by or without the replacement of these same hours, they will not make any substantial changes in the process of teaching”, it is expressed.
