The head of the Vetevendosje Movement in Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has been holding a conversation today with students of the Faculty of Social Sciences in Tirana, in conditions where the learning process is blocked, while the Pedagogs Assembly's decision is expected to strike. Kurti has given students the right to protest, while added that their cause is even more fair when supported by teachers. He said the victory comes from the resistance, quotes “Albanian”
The capitals both in politics and in society come from endurance. It is true that in terms of my political engagement I have started with student protests. In the 1990s in Kosovo we were in the occupation of Serbia, which had all Albanians laid off. Pristina University conducted lessons in private homes, but in 1997 we started protests. Students are right, almost every time and everywhere, but even when teachers are with them they are more right.
We have attended your protests in Kosovo too, but on the eve of spring, there is no way. At student protests in Albania, we have noted that students have reacted to injustices in the education system. Monopolys in the economy and authoritarianism in politics are the same.
I also see student opposition against this political scheme. In Albanian lands, we have combined political schemes that maintain each other, and student protests are against the privileges that exist not only in education, but also about the need for Albanian society to be transformed into a new transformation, which is both national and European.
It's important that you have your own organization, not to build representation to dialogue with political representatives, but to have joint arrangements. With Vetevendosje governance in Kosovo tomorrow, public education will be free. We cannot allow children and young people to have dark prospects because they did not have a chance at the beginning of their life” stated Albin Kurti.
Albin Kurti said that in Albania and Kosovo the time has come for an Albanian spring initiated by the political context in the region. Serbia is interested in partitioning Kosovo to continue by dividing Bosnia, it aims to realise Greater Serbia through the division of neighbours. Kosovo has not as much as 5% Serbs, while Serbia has 20% minorities, but Serbia is not spoken of, but only to divide Kosovo.
The “all started in the middle of 2018 when Thaci warned painful compromise. Correcting if it's correcting a mistake should please us not to hurt us, then what correction is this? There have been secret talks with Vucic to divide Kosovo, masking it as territorial exchange, or EU or UN integration, as bait to bring Serbia into play.
Kosovo has the right to join Albania, but not by shrinking. This is unacceptable, unfair and anti-national. The time has come for an Albanian spring both in Kosovo and Albania, as we are also left at the bottom of European countries, and the dangers from predatory neighbours are increasing, so we have to have a return to the people, as institutions are not at the level of reality” concluded Albin Kurti.
