Justice minister supports the request of corrective servants, agrees for non-refusion of the Law on Salat

Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri has said he will support the request of corrective servants for the return of the Law for the Salaries to the Assembly.

He has said in Puls of KTV that he has pledged since the beginning of the mandate that he will try to treat the correct servants equally to the police.

Kosovo's “Correcting Service has been one of the most overlooked institutions. My pledge as minister from the moment I am in office has been to commit to empowering their position because it is one of the very important agencies. Today we have guards, probation officers, who believe me, suffering injuries suffered from attacks by prisoners. They're facing big problems. It has been my pledge that this organisation be treated equal as police officers. He lacks the law, which is on my agenda. These should be treated as Kosovo police. My request was to level with the police. My request was for the Correcting Service to have the addition as the Kosovo police do. It was in the hands of deputies. Those who prevented him and those who allowed it. We have nine months to implement the Law. I see a big challenge implementing his”, he said.

Adding that “will support the request of the correctional officers for this law to go back to their application and on the other hand is the president's definition of what it will decide. I support their demands”

Today over 1600 correctional officers throughout Kosovo held one hour protest as a sign of dissatisfaction with the Law for the Salaries. The Correcting Service Union called on President Hashim Thaci not to decree this law that was passed in the Assembly days ago.

Tahiri in Puls of KTV has also commented on Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj's statements that on veterans' lists for false veterans. He said it's good not to be pressured and that this should be left in the hands of justice.
