European states not accepting Kosovo drivers license

In March 2018, the Kosovo government has applied to the government of Germany, Switzerland, France and Montenegro to recognise Kosovo drivers' license, but these states have not yet returned to Kosovo. It is a huge number of Kosovo citizens who have sought to recognise your driver's license in other European Union countries, but this has not yet happened.

According to communications experts for a long time, Kosovo drivers' license will not be recognised in other countries because Kosovo is not participating in the world driver's license organisation. Do not membership in this organisation condition that drivers not be recognised as driver's license unless countries link specific agreements such as the agreement signed this week between Kosovo and Macedonia for mutual recognition of drivers and entered into force immediately, writes Arbres.info.

In this direction, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has submitted requests for mutual recognition of patents to drivers of Germany, Switzerland, France and Montenegro, but, according to Interior Affairs Ministry Deputy Minister Izmi Zeka, these states have still not returned answers to their request.

“In the month of March we have submitted requests for patent recognition of drivers in Germany, France, Switzerland and Montenegro, d.m. We've made demands that these states make a deal, but they're still in procedure. I mean, concrete issues of these four states, we don't. They're in procedure”, Zeka said of the gold portal.info.

Apart from procedures, the reason for delays and failure to respond from these countries is the political problems that affect some states.

There are also the political aspects that are affecting some states, but we believe that the Balkan countries and Germany and Switzerland are gradually interested in other than the state interest of our citizens and”, Zeka has said.

Kosovo has launched initiatives for mutual recognition of drivers with other countries since 2013.

Deputy Interior Minister Izmi Zeka has indicated that they are under way and discussion with other countries like Austria, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia.

Our <x0).>initives started in 2013 for mutual recognition of driver's license. We have initiated it with Austria's state then with Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and several other states. The deal is still in procedure. We still have no confirmation of the parties I mentioned. So we still don't have any announcements from Austria, Italy, Slovenia, or Croatia. We've started our own procedures that we've sent to these states but we still haven't confirmed in this direction”, he said.

According to communications expert Nol Deday, the reason Kosovo is not known as a driver's license in other countries is because Kosovo is not a member of the International Association for a driver's license.

Kosovo should be a member of the World Conference for a driver's license and then it's equal to all states and starts accepting a driver's license because it shows the criteria and procedures. Kosovo has never participated in any driver's license conference, and this is institutional responsibility. Accounting for the infrastructure ministry is the problem of why Kosovo has to make agreements today and is not a member of the International Conference”

Asked why countries like Germany are not interested in signing an agreement like Macedonia, Dedaj said other countries have strict procedures and European standards that Kosovo does not meet.

“Couldn't recognize Germany because Germany has a new driver's license. The new driver's license is issued three years later, and three years later it takes the security range to get them verifiable. In Germany, it becomes a driver's license to the elderly. And we don't have these” criteria, Deday said.

Arbarl portal. Info has tried to contact the directorate for a driver's license under the Ministry of Infrastructure but has not responded to our calls.

We remember that during the week the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kosovo and Macedonia have signed an agreement on mutual recognition of drivers who entered into force shortly after the signing.
