Commander of the National Guard of Iowa, Major General Timothy Orr, has warned of the annulment of his previous visit to February 16th=18th, in honour of the 11th anniversary of Kosovo's independence.
Periscope days earlier had reported that the United States of America would take steps to review co-operation with the Kosovo Security Force, due to the Kosovo Government's decision not to suspend the tax imposed on Serbian and Bosnian products.
Today, the Kosovo presidency confirmed Periscop's reporting, and the fact that President Hashim Thaci has received an informative letter to cancel the visit of the American general. From the Ministry of Defence, meanwhile, it has been said today there is warning of annulment of the visit, but not more.
All I can say is: We have a warning on the possibility of canceling the visit of the Commander of the National Guard of Aiva. We expect this visit to be realised in the future because these visits are very important for us”, it has been said in a response to Indexline from the Defence Ministry's Media Office.
From the presidency it has become known that they received a letter from the general, Nundman Rama, where they have reportedly canceled this visit by Major General Timothy Orr.
“We have received a letter from General Beqman Rama, who has informed us of the annulment of General Timothy Orr”'s visit, said President Hashim Thaci's adviser, Ardian Arifaj.
Otherwise no additional details have been provided for the reason for the annulment of this visit, but it must be commemorated that the United States of America recently had an open request to the Government of Kosovo for the removal of 100% tax on Serbian and Bosniak products.
But despite that, the country's prime minister, Ramush Haradinaj, has clearly said the tax will be lifted when Serbia recognises Kosovo.
There is still no response from the prime minister's office regarding the annulment of General Orr's visit. /Periscopi
