Movement B Chairman ESA, Bilall Kasami and Alliance for Albanians Chairman Ziadin Sela are seen at a joint meeting in Skopje with prof. Dr. Blerim Reka, reportedly talking about presidential elections in northern Macedonia and the possibility of his release as the presidential candidate of the Albanian opposition.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Blerim Reka, shortly after this meeting, wrote on his Facebook account:
The Albanian, hard to win votes for president. Macedonians, hardly become president without winning Albanian votes. The solution? Albanian Vice-President; or elect the president from the Parliament?”
Also, in the margin of Conference “The Albanian factor in the region, between east and West”, where the head of the ASH, Ziadin Sela, University of Pristina professor Edsim Sinani, discussed with full conviction that Albanians would come up with presidential candidate and that this is clear enough.
There is no reason to get into a serious and meaningful race. Between the two Macedonian parties LSDM and VMRO, the Albanian opposition will find strength to challenge the old Yugoslav mentality in northern Macedonia, but also Macedonian domination. Each makes his calculations understood by Albanians.”, Professor Sinan stressed at the conference held at the University of Pristina Faculty of Philosophy.
According to the Constitution and the early deadlines, the first round of presidential elections will be held on 21 April, while the second on May 5th. Candidates must be submitted by March 21st, while the election campaign will begin on 31 March. Current President Djordje Ivanov's mandate expires on 12 May.
LSDM is looking for allies to debut with a common candidate, while V MRO- The DMPNE has made its candidate public.
Whether Blerim Reka is the Albanian opposition candidate for president of the Republic of Northern Macedonia will have to wait for official confirmation.
