Valbona Govori, chairman of the Association Against Epilepsy in Kosovo on Monday, on the occasion of International Epilepsy Day, has demanded that society's awareness of this disease rise, while calling on relevant institutions to be introduced as a priority treatment disease, Koha Ditore writes today.
During this day's table, Govori has said that epilepsy is a brain disorder, according to her, attacks are quickly interrupted but tend to repeat.
About 50 million people worldwide suffer from this disease. In Europe six million people. We can't give an exact figure, because we lack the tools, but based on a research into Neurology Clinic 415 cases have frequented our clinic. But it should be noted that patients do not visit only this clinic, but also address other institutions”, she has said.
According to her, poor financial conditions are additional factors that the disease cannot be addressed.
The chairman of the Association of Kosovo Neurologists, Africa Blyta, has said that the equal treatment of women and men is important in dealing with this disease, as according to him, women are stigmatized in this regard. The development of a people depends on the emancipation of women and women in society, and this should continue in the future. It's not easy, the process is difficult, but the process of emancipating society goes through the female emancipation in society”, Blyta said.
