Turkey criticises decision on issue of journalist Khasoggi

Turkey today criticised the decisions of a Saudi court against suspects in the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, stressing that they were far from doing justice. The court's “decisions, which have condemned five people to death but acquitted two key suspects, are far from the expectations of our country and the international community to clarify all aspects of this murder and for the manifestation of justice”, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed.
Five Saudis charged with killing the journalist, Jamal Khashoggi, were sentenced to death by a Riyad court, who acquitted two top suspects, an adviser and a secret service chief.
Jamal Khashoggi, an associate of “Washington Post”, was killed at the age of 59, in October 2018 during an operation that has plunged Saudi Arabia into one of the most serious diplomatic crises and damaged the image of the heir prince, Mohammed ben Salman, suspected of ordering this murder.
“Critic of the Saudi regime after watching it closely, the journalist was killed... by a team of 15 people coming from Riyadh to the Royal consulate in Istanbul”, according to Turkish officials. / ATSH/
